When you envision your dream home, there are likely a few features you picture being in it, from floor-to-ceiling windows to a library filled with your favorite books. While some of these features are unique to you, others are very popular among other Americans looking for their forever home. To give you insight into some of these highly sought-after amenities, analysts at Frontdoor just shared a list of the home features Americans are most interested in, from the bathroom to the garden.
The researchers at Frontdoor, a service that connects homeowners with tradespeople for home care and maintenance assistance, based their rankings on the number of average daily views received by home listings on Zillow containing each feature. Average daily views were calculated using data on total views and the number of days a listing was live on Zillow.
Most Desirable Home Features
While there are a handful of home features buyers are looking for, hardwood flooring is the most desirable of the bunch. According to Frontdoor's report, the average hardwood-floored home listing on Zillow receives up to 261 views a day and over half of home hunters would pay more for a home with hardwood floors.
Most Desirable Kitchen Features
Often referred to as the heart of the home, a lot of time is spent in the kitchen, so it's important to find one that has features you value. According to the report, three features stand out as the most desirable: granite countertops, double ovens, and butcher blocks. House listings with any of these features receive an average of 160 views a day.
Most Desirable Living Room Features
Americans are looking for living rooms that feel open and welcome. Beyond hardwood flooring, buyers are prioritizing homes with open floor plans—the average house listing advertising this feature receives up to 226 views a day.
Most Desirable Bathroom Features
Believe it or not, a sunken tub is the most sought-after feature in the bathroom, with the average home listing with one garnering 174 views per day. Integrated into the floor, sunken tubs can be difficult to come across, which may add to why they're such a desirable amenity.

Most Desirable Garden Features
Whether you're a beginner gardener or have a superb green thumb, a conservatory is a feature everyone can admire. The space, also known as a sunroom, lets in plenty of natural light and allows you to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors from the comfort of your home. The feature gets 209 average daily views on Zillow.
Most Desirable Eco-Friendly Features
Many Americans are looking for ways to make their home more eco-friendly. According to Frontdoor, a recent survey found that 92 percent of homeowners in the U.S. are investing in eco-friendly home improvements, like smart thermometers and water-saving toilets. But the most desirable eco-friendly feature among home buyers is reclaimed wood (190 daily views), which is saved from the landfill and repurposed for features like countertops and furniture.
