For many of us, a home renovation or DIY project starts with scouring Pinterest for inspiration. From room layouts, paint color swatches, and decorating ideas, the platform has many ideas everyone can explore. To give you even more home inspiration, Pinterest recently released its 2025 trend report, highlighting all the trends the platform predicts will dominate in the coming year.
Whether you're eager to completely revamp your space or simply need a few ideas to liven up your living room, Pinterest's trend report features the trends that have seen an increase in searches over the past year. Here's a closer look at the six home design trends that will be everywhere in 2025.
Pinterest predicts that homes will be filled with more color in 2025, as playful interior design choices have become more popular than modern or traditional ones. Think: Painting furniture, painting your wall trim a fun color, and turning your space into your personal art canvas. According to the report, searches for contrast trim, cupboard painting, door murals, hand-painted furniture, and hand-painted wall patterns have all increased over the last year.
The motto "more is more" will ring especially true in 2025. Searches for fabric wall décor have increased by 135 percent, while searches for eclectic apartments are up 630 percent and eclectic boho bedrooms are up 65 percent, according to Pinterest. What's more, searches for eclectic maximalism and vintage maximalism are up 215 and 260 percent, respectively. People are eager to add bold patterns, eclectic prints, and textures into their homes next year.
Medieval style is making its way back into homes as more people take inspiration from bygone eras. According to Pinterest, searches for castle house plans are up 45 percent, showing an increased interest in the flare the style adds to homes. Some décor ideas include arches, chunky furniture, copper pots, dark wood floors, heavy fabrics, and fireplaces.
The unexpected red theory will take on a new form in 2025 as Pinterest predicts cherry motifs will dominate in the coming year. The platform says that searches for cherry bedrooms are up 100 percent this year and will continue to rise in 2025. If you don't want to take the trend so literally, opt for cherry-hued paint, furniture, and decorations instead.
Homeowners will incorporate surrealist touches into their homes in 2025 as searches for modern surrealism have increased 70 percent, according to the report. To participate in the trend, consider incorporating unusual shapes, bright and bold colors, and textures into your home to create a dreamlike environment. From tablescapes to décor, this is a trend you can dip your toe in or fully embrace throughout your home for a fun change.
In 2025, Pinterest says home aesthetics will draw inspiration from the Rococo era, an art movement that began in the early 1700s and lasted until 1770. Also known as Late Baroque, this ornamental style was full of lavish feminine energy. Homeowners are embracing this trend by implementing luxe tablescapes, pastel and gentle colors, foliage, gold and brass details, and delicate yet elegant finishes.
